Set of 4 coasters featuring detail views of quilts from the Denver Art Museum Collection.

2 of these coasters feature detail views of the Album Quilt by Anna Eliza Pratt Perrine, created in the Delaware River Valley in 1842-43. To create the floral arrangements, the maker of this quilt used a technique called broderie perse (Persian embroidery), which involves cutting out flowers from glazed printed cottons, assembling them into the desired design, and carefully stitching them down. Smaller blossoms and fine details are drawn with pen and ink or embroidered, while signatures are signed, stamped, or stenciled.

The remaining 2 coasters feature detail views of the Medallion Bedcover made in England in the early 1800s. A multitude of printed cottons are transformed into a whimsical composition of flowers, plants, ordinary and exotic creatures.
