"Mi Tierra" accompanies an exhibition of the same name organized by and on view at the Denver Art Museum through October 22, 2017. For this exhibition, thirteen Latino artists were asked to create site-specific installations expressing their experiences of contemporary life in the American West. The installations explore diverse narratives of migration, the meaning of “home,” and the complex layering of cultures throughout the Western United States, in materials from paint and concrete to embroidery thread and piñata paper. The fully bilingual (Spanish/English) catalog contains first-person accounts from all the participating artists, an introduction by exhibition curator Rebecca R. Hart, selected artists’ biographies, and photos of the works in progress and installed. Artists featured: Carmen Argote, Jaime Carrejo, Gabriel Dawe, Claudio Dicochea, Daniela Edburg, Justin Favela, Ana Teresa Fernández, Ramiro Gomez, John Jota Leaños, Dmitri Obergfell, Ruben Ochoa, Daisy Quezada, and Xochi Solis.
