Traditionally, native peoples of the Southwest created carvings to represent the totem animals of the Six Cardinal Directions (the pivotal points of nature). Today, fetishes are fashioned after a diverse selection of animals and spirits; each with their own meanings, strengths, and weaknesses. Bear fetishes are used for healing, protection, strength, journeying, mothering, hunting and gathering. Bear‚ hibernation reminds us of the value of going within.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDaughter of Ernest Peina and Tina Sice, sister of Colvin Peina(d), Ray and Troy Sice. Claudia has been carving since the age of 17 and was inspired by her aunt and uncle. Her favorite is antler, elk horn, turquoise and marble.
