Oracles of the Pink Universe is an expansion of Simphiwe Ndzube’s practice of unpacking difficult South African histories through mythological narratives. The works inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s painting “the garden of earthly delights,” (1490-1510), depict a theatrical space where heaven, earth and hell intersect. Laura F. Almeida joined the Denver Art Museum as a curatorial fellow in August 2019. She is an art historian of modern and contemporary art with a specialization in Latin American art of the Cold War. At the Denver Art Museum, Almeida curated Ana Mendieta: Suspended Fire, an immersive installation exploring the symbolic representation of fire. Rebecca R. Hart has curated exhibitions with emerging and established artists since her appointment as the Vicki and Kent Logan Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art in 2015. Hart’s exhibitions expand audiences and connect them with a broader community. Her portfolio includes solo exhibitions with Senga Nengudi, Jordan Casteel, and Xioaze Xie, permanent collection installations, and acquisition of significant artworks. Phumelele Tshabalala lives and works in Johannesburg, South Africa. His work explores identity and the human condition, commenting on social injustice in his homeland and the United States. He studied fine and applied arts at Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria, South Africa, and has an MFA from Purchase College, State University of New York.
