From April 24, 1997 through February 25, 2000, selections of Vance Kirkland paintings traveled to 13 institutions in 10 European countries, organized by Hugh Grant. All of Kirkland's painting periods were represented in each of the exhibitions, demonstrating the strength of his entire career; the majority of these exhibitions were accompanied by a published catalog.
This particular catalog was published in conjunction with the 1999 exhibition at Sala Parpalló, in the Museum Complex of València, Spain. Three essays considering Kirkland's work—written by Manuel Muñoz Ibáñez, Emmanuel Guigon and Lóránd Hegyi—are presented in Spanish, Catalan, and English translation
In addition to over 30 color images of Kirkland, Kirkland's work, and Kirkland atwork, this catalog includes 28 full-color plates of Kirkland's paintings and drawings.
