Inspired by the beauty of waterfalls, this blown glass vase features a flattened profile with a carved element that reveals the underlaid color. The interior of the vase is transparent, creating a sophisticated contrast and thoughtful composition. between the exterior and interior.
The red color pattern draws on the raw energy of lava, the bounty of ripe fruits and veg, and the crimson hues of Autumn. Each vase is handmade by artist Thomas Spake in his Tennessee glassblowing studio. After the vessel has been blown and cooled to room temperature, the vase is engraved using a diamond wheel, carving through the exterior to reveal the interior color and sandblasted to create the matte finish.
